Founded by Kornelis Bazuin
The nursery Bazuin was founded by Kornelis Bazuin around the year 1910-1916. The nursery has been located in Eelde since the beginning.

Gerrit Bazuin (2nd GEN)
Back then, soft fruit was mainly grown, such as berries and strawberries. In addition, vegetables were also grown, such as chicory and beans. In the photo you can see Gerrit Bazuin, carrying baskets with strawberries.

Kornelis Bazuin (3rd GEN)
Kornelis Bazuin took over the family business from his father. He started converting the business to it's current form. Growing all sorts of cut flowers and pot plants. At that time the following flowers were grown: aster, chrysanthemum, dahlia and forsythia. In the photo you can see Kornelis Bazuin, harvesting chicory.

Gerrit Bazuin (4th GEN & current owner)
In 1982 Gerrit took over the company from his father. After a few years he stopped growing pot plants. And has fully focused on the cultivation of cut flowers.

Gerrit & Anke Bazuin
Gerrit & Anke have been running the family business together since 1988. Together and with help of many others, they have further expanded and professionalized the nursery.

Perennials
The cultivation of perennials started in 1998. Over the years, the number of perennials has grown steadily. Part of the company is now specially equipped for the cultivation and propagation of perennials.

Plant breeding
In the 1980s a lot of experience was gained in breeding new plant varieties. Eventually the breeding of new plant varieties was picked up again around 2010. Now there is a breeding program for dahlias and several types of perennials.

Establishing our own brand
The year 2020 saw two important milestones. First of all, obtaining the registered trademark: Bazuin®
