ADVICE & TIPS | |
---|---|
Picking dahlia flowers: | It’s important that dahlia stems are firm when being cut. The ideal time to pick the flowers is in the early morning or late in the afternoon. Use a sharp knife to cut the stem at the desired length, at a 45 degree angle. |
Vase life: | Freshly cut, dahlias have a vase life of approximately 7 days’ or longer.
It’s vitaly important that the vase is appropriatly cleaned before use. (DON’T clean the vase with soap!) |
Digging up tubers: | When tubers are taken out of the ground, for winter storage. DON’T rinse off the remaining ground with water. Give the tubers a gentle shake (don’t damage them) so that excess ground will fall off. Little remaining ground won’t harm the tubers in storage. |
Plant combinations: | Many different types of perennials and or grasses. |
